چکیده
Abstract The aim of present study is to characterize the resistance and virulence profile enterococci isolated from aquaculture excavated ponds masonry tanks (6 samples) in southern Brazil. Samples were cultured selective medium, 10 colonies randomly selected each sample, which identified by MALDI-TOF tested against 13 antimicrobials. presence (tetL, tetM, tetS, ermB msrC) (ace, esp, agg, cylA gelE) genes determined PCR. A total 79 identified, Entecococcus faecalis (44.3%) E. casseliflavus (36.7%) most prevalent species isolated. Sixty-five strains (82.3%) resistant at least one antimicrobials tested, whereas 27 (34.2%) multiresistant. overall percentages antimicrobial isolates were: 58.2% rifampicin, 40.5% fluoroquinolones, 36.7% erythromycin 30.4% tetracycline. tetL tetM found 57.7% tetracycline-resistant strains; msrC 31.01% erythromycin-resistant strains. frequently detected factors ace gelE genes. Although limited a single farm, these data suggest that may be reservoir virulent enterococci. This first step towards enhancing our understandingof distribution, fish farming environments south

Antimicrobial resistance profile of Enterococcus spp isolated from food in Southern Brazil
Fifty-six Enterococcus spp. strains were isolated from foods in Southern Brazil, confirmed by PCR and classified as Enterococcus faecalis (27), Enterococcus faecium (23) and Enterococcus spp (6). Antimicrobial susceptibility tests showed resistance phenotypes to a range of antibiotics widely administrated in humans such as gentamycin, streptomycin, ampicillin and vancomycin.
متن کاملAntibiotic Resistance of Salmonella spp. Isolated from Shrimp Farming Freshwater Environment in Northeast Region of Brazil
This study investigated the presence and antibiotic resistance of Salmonella spp. in a shrimp farming environment in Northeast Region of Brazil. Samples of water and sediments from two farms rearing freshwater-acclimated Litopenaeus vannamei were examined for the presence of Salmonella. Afterwards, Salmonella isolates were serotyped, the antimicrobial resistance was determined by a disk diffusi...
متن کاملPrevalence and phenotypic characterization of Enterococcus spp. isolated from food in Brazil
We evaluated the frequency of enterococci from food and found 95.2% of positivity, being E. faecium and E. faecalis the most frequent species. High-level streptomycin resistance was observed, as well as gelatinase and hemolysis activity, showing the potential role of environmental strains as reservoir of virulence and resistance traits.
متن کاملIdentification, antimicrobial resistance and genotypic characterization of Enterococcus spp. isolated in Porto Alegre, Brazil
In the past two decades the members of the genus Enterococcus have emerged as important nosocomial pathogens worldwide. In the present study, we evaluated the antimicrobial resistance and genotypic characteristics of 203 Enterococcus spp. recovered from different clinical sources from two hospitals in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The species were identified by conventional biochemic...
متن کاملCharacterization of Aminoglycoside Resistance and Virulence Genes among Enterococcus spp. Isolated from a Hospital in China
This study investigated the aminoglycoside resistance phenotypes and genotypes, as well as the prevalence of virulence genes, in Enterococcus species isolated from clinical patients in China. A total of 160 enterococcal isolates from various clinical samples collected from September 2013 to July 2014 were identified to the species level using the VITEK-2 COMPACT system. The antimicrobial suscep...
